Ray and Wilma Phipps: Doing What Jesus Did in India!
By Tom Shanklin For Ray and Wilma Phipps, life has been an amazing adventure and demonstration of God’s supernatural intervention and power. It began in 1946, when Ray was 11 years old. He had a vision while at a prayer meeting in a country church near Venus, Nebraska, where his father was pastor. As Ray knelt to pray with the others, he was transported out of his body and into the atmosphere above the earth. He saw the earth as a huge globe below him that seemed to be real and alive. The Lord’s presence … Continue reading

Fall Missions Festival at Calvary Lutheran Church, Lee, Illinois
By Tom Shanklin I was privileged to speak at Calvary Lutheran Church in Lee, Illinois for their annual Fall Missions Festival. I had a great time with the children in Sunday School sharing a slide show from the various countries where we have ministered. A young boy named Thomas was well versed in geography and was able to tell me the continent in which each country was located, except for Haiti. I wasn’t sure about Haiti myself, so I’d say Thomas did pretty well. It turns out Haiti is considered a part the continent of … Continue reading

The figures show that India represents almost 17.31% of the world’s population, which means one out of six people on this planet live in India. Although, the crown of the world’s most populous country is on China’s head for decades, India is all set to take the numero uno position by 2030. With the population growth rate at 1.58%, India is predicted to … Continue reading
United Methodist Church, Litchfield, MN
Today Susan and I traveled to Litchfield, where I minstered at the United Methodist Church. I was filling in for Pastor Bill Kerr, who was away on vacation. It was missions Sunday, so I shared some about our missions work, particularly among the native American people. A missions team from the church just left this morning for a mission trip to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. The Sermon was called “Your Mission.” I spoke from Luke 19:1-10 about Zacchaeus, and Jesus’ mission in life, which was to “seek and to save the lost.” … Continue reading
Shell Lake Church holds 24th Missions Conference
Pastor Virgil Amundson and missionaries . I had a great time this week at the Shell Lake Full Gospel Church Annual Missions Conference. I have noticed that when local churches get a vision to do something for God, and then faithful and steadfastly walk out that vision, awesome things take place. The church in Shell Lake is great example of this. For the last 24 years, the church has held an annual missions conference. Missionaries, pastors, and believers join together to pray, seek the Lord, and to help support missions around the world. Last year … Continue reading
Ministry in Thailand 2010
By Tom Shanklin There are two things that I felt in my heart would happen through my first trip to the nation of Thailand. First, God was going to expand my vision for world evangelism. And secondly, some seeds were going to planted that would change the nation of Thailand. This, I believe, is exactly what happened. My flights both ways took me through Seoul, Korea. Travel time each way: about 35 hours from point to point., Including one very long 14-hour flight. Ouch! Initially, I was quite surprised by Thailand. I was expecting another … Continue reading
Testimonies, May, 2007
A woman from Southeastern Minnesota writes: “Thank you for your ministry to us. My eye is healed and my husband’s shoulder feels better. The Word of God is powerful unto salvation, healing, deliverance and restoration.” A Minnesota woman writes, “When the altar call was given after you spoke, I went up front. After an absolute attack from every corner, emotionally and physically, this opportunity for prayer was as welcome as a drop of water to a parched man in the desert. I said simply “Lay it on me. I need it from the top of … Continue reading
India, 2005: A Fishing Trip to Remember
By Tom Shanklin I can remember, as a young boy growing up in southern Illinois, my father would often take me fishing. We would go out to a small lake or pond after he returned home from work and fish until the sun went down and it was too dark to see. The fishing was not the greatest in those days. We would usually catch just a few bluegills or sunfish, normally not enough for even a meal, but I think my father just enjoyed being outdoors, swatting mosquitoes and getting his line wet in … Continue reading
