Nothing but the Blood

By Tom Shanklin Recently I was reading one of those self-help books. . .the kind that tell you how to be a success in ten easy lessons. I like books on success, and this one was enjoyable and even full of Bible principles. But I was about two-thirds through the book when I realized that there was not a word in it about the blood of Jesus Christ and His sacrificial death at Calvary. Written for a secular audience, this book embraced many good positive Bible truths, but the direction that the author took could … Continue reading

Evangelists Arise!

tompreach

By Tom Shanklin Evangelists arise! The hour demands it. It’s time for those who have received the sacred call to sound the herald message of salvation, to shout it from the roof tops. Evangelists arise! Toss aside every excuse and begin to face the call of God on your life. Preach the Good News. Call sinners to repentance. Call the backslider back home. Sound the alarm. Let the people know. Jesus is coming soon. Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. There are many ministries in Christ’s church. And all of them should … Continue reading

LifeStyle Evangelism

By Tom Shanklin Back in the ’70s, I met a man working at a sawmill where I was employed in southeast Minnesota. He was not a pastor or a preacher, just an ordinary worker like me, but he loved the Lord. He would talk to me about his church, a small fellowship of “Spirit-filled” Christians. “How do you know they are Spirit-filled?” I would tease him. He was always asking me to come to his church. Meanwhile, he was living the Christian life before me and sharing stories about what God had done in his … Continue reading

Family Fun Music Festival in Mahnomen Bears Fruit

NativeWoman

By Tom Shanklin Thanks for your prayers for our outreach to Mahnomen, Minnesota on Sept. 23-25. Many lives were touched, God’s people were encouraged, and souls came into the Kingdom of God. Five area churches cooperated with the event, contributing labor, love, and finances. Approximately 150 people attended during the afternoon, and we were able to pray with 15-20 for salvation, and several others for healing. But numbers do not give an adequate picture of the event. Walls came down and connections were made between people—church members and non-church members, Native people and non-native people, … Continue reading

The Ministry of the Evangelist

The following is an excerpt from Tom Shanklin’s book, You Can Touch the World. “Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.” Acts 8:5, KJV.  Now, let’s look more closely at the ministry of the evangelist. The message of the evangelist is “Christ and Him crucified.” It’s the message of the Messiah, the Savior of the world. It’s the message that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son…” This is the predominant message of the evangelist. This is where his ministry functions most effectively. … Continue reading

Face to Face with Jesus

By Tom Shanklin Today, I want to talk to you about something this is at the very heart of the Gospel of Jesus Christ-that is, knowing and experiencing the Lord on a daily basis. In reality, all of us are seeking and hungering for fellowship with our Creator. We may not even realize it. We may be following after all kinds of substitutes, but down deep inside, as Augustine has said, “Thou hast formed us for Thyself, and our hearts are restless till they find rest in Thee.” God created us in order to fellowship … Continue reading

Biblical Prosperity Scriptures

Confess and meditate these Scriptures and put them into practice. God’s Word is truth, and it will set you free! And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand. (Genesis 39:2-3, KJV). But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant … Continue reading
