Preaching the Evangelistic Message

Tom

The following is a chapter from Tom Shanklin’s book, “You Can Touch the World.” This book has been enthusiastically received by ministers and believers around the world. You can learn more about You Can Touch the World here. By Tom Shanklin “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:18, KJV. In spite of what we have said about sharing one-on-one and lifestyle evangelism, the public proclamation of the Gospel is still a much needed part of … Continue reading

The Power Plant is Still Working! Keep the Switch Turned On!

DSCN5278

By Tom Shanklin “And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.” Mark 6:5, 6, KJV. People often ask me why God seems to move so much more powerfully in other countries than He does in the United States. Well, I don’t have all the answers. But from the Scriptures I can see that one of the main hindrances to the move of God is unbelief. This … Continue reading

Ray and Wilma Phipps: Doing What Jesus Did in India!

Ray and Wilma Phipps

By Tom Shanklin For Ray and Wilma Phipps, life has been an amazing adventure and demonstration of God’s supernatural intervention and power. It began in 1946, when Ray was 11 years old. He had a vision while at a prayer meeting in a country church near Venus, Nebraska, where his father was pastor. As Ray knelt to pray with the others, he was transported out of his body and into the atmosphere above the earth. He saw the earth as a huge globe below him that seemed to be real and alive. The Lord’s presence … Continue reading

How Much is it Worth to Hear God’s Voice?

Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice…"

When Susan and I were young Christians, we had a friend named Gail. Gail and her husband Danny were mentors to Susan and me in the things of God. At that time, Danny and Gail lived in a farmhouse off of Highway 44 just east of Spring Grove, Minnesota. One day Gail was driving home from town and was about to turn left into the long driveway leading back to their house. As she was about to turn, she felt constrained to just wait. The way she described is that she “had an unction” to … Continue reading

It’s Time to Get the Glory Back in the Church!

Glory

By Tom Shanklin “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.” Isaiah 60:1, 2, KJV. We certainly are living in a time of great darkness in the earth. Men love the darkness more than the light because their deeds are evil. There seems to be little regard for life, either of the born or the unborn. And God’s … Continue reading

Don’t Blame God for the Newtown Shooting!

By Tom Shanklin Last month our nation was shocked by a shooting rampage in Connecticut which left 28 people dead, including 20 young children. Many have blamed God for the incident, as though He is responsible for men’s dastardly deeds and foolish ways. “Where was God?” they ask. But the thing that they fail to realize is that not only is there a God in heaven, but there is also a devil who is hard at work on the earth, inspiring evil and seeking to kill, steal and destroy. As long as human beings choose to yield to Satan’s … Continue reading

Would You Like Your Life to Change in 2013?

Pastors in India crying out to God.

By Tom Shanklin A new year is always a great time to reflect on what has been happening in your life and to make projections for the future. It is also a time when many people make New Year’s resolutions. But surveys indicate that by January 20th about 80 percent of those resolutions will be broken. Overall, only about 8 percent of new year’s resolutions are successfully fulfilled. The resulting failure is often a source of great discouragement for many people. This is because the power of change comes from God. If you leave God … Continue reading

The Power of a Seed

Preaching in an open air meeting in India.

By Tom Shanklin “And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.” Mark 4:30-32, KJV. Our heavenly Father is the master of using small things … Continue reading

Don’t Just Get Out of the Box, Crush the Box!

Susan harvesting Kale in November.

By Susan Shanklin I baked a couple of Butternut squashes up today and sorted through Haroldson apples for ones that wouldn’t keep any longer. I ended up with two quarts of applesauce, canned and two quarts of yummy bright orange strained squash. One for the frig and one for the freezer. I just let the chickens out and watered the sheep. Before I went to the barn I  brought up the blue garbage can on wheels from the end of the driveway after pick up and placed it  in front of the garage. So I … Continue reading
